I am currently working on three commissioned paintings of a very sweet Shiba Inu. The client and I discussed color palettes and she showed me some examples of a few color pallets that she really liked- and I had to agree that matcha green and plus were so pretty together and perfect for her pup. I wanted to test out the right mixture for the painting beforehand. I don’t have a plum color in my paintbox so I mixed ultramarine blue, alizarin crimson, and a little cadmium orange. I had some difficulty with the ultramarine separating on the paper but I fixed that by using less water. I painted the above fox as a test run for the color palette. I think that the green needs to be more green but otherwise I love the way that the colors work together. Below is the sketch for one of the paintings that I am doing of the Shiba Inu.
I think that it’s important to love your own work, and I LOVE the expression on this pup’s face!
